800 STAR’s telehealth solution, MedStar, is a telephone based nurse advice helpline connecting you to registered nurses and physicians 24 hours a day, every day. Our medical assistance services:

  • Expands the network of Primary Care Providers of our insurance clients
  • Extends access to services to your customers anywhere at any time
  • Controls costs by providing health information and advice at the right time and in the right treatment and cost setting
  • Establishes new revenue channels by offering Health Hotlines as a value added option, on a subscription basis



How MedStar Works

  • MedStar is a URAC accredited telephone based health line and health information centre (a medical call centre)
  • Manned by Registered Nurses in Canada, 24 hours a day, every day  Using expert systems and medical protocols to direct callers to appropriate care
  • Registered Nurses recommend an appropriate course of action to callers who have an urgent (but nonemergency) medical situation



MedStar saves up to four times the cost of service by:

  • Reducing the number of persons making unnecessary visits to a doctor or an Emergency Room
  • Promoting preventative care by providing self care support
  • Helping chronically ill patients manage their symptoms by sticking to their treatment regime
